End of trip.

June 2, 2001. Four of us went from Howe Township Park to Duncannon.
Phil, Eric, Shelba and Jim went down the Juniata from Howe Township Park to Duncannon today. We took out from the Susquehanna at the first tunnel past the Duncannon Tower. The trip was about 10.5 miles and took about 4 hours. We stopped to play in the waves at various ledges on the way. The weather was fine and we all had a good time. The Juniata was at 4.0 feet, which is just an ideal depth for me. We were able to find that nice slot in the big ledge, which we could not see on the earlier trip because the water was about 5.1 feet. I did find a problem with my open Pungo. While surfing in some of the waves water would come over the side and after a few minutes I would need to drop back to pump out the water. Then I could go back and do it again.

Eric says this about that! HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY JUNE JUNE Remember when it couldn't come so soon soon Remember when it was cold and wet with ice For boater guys and gals thats not so very nice we like it warmer with maybe just a little chill For we know sooner or later even we will take a spill The water and air not being so cold Means less time the breath we must hold. But now the sun shines warm and bright And now we can boat even into the night. We smile more and are better to be around The smile broadens as we push away from the ground Our boats coddle us in heavenly bliss Oh but when the cold returns this summer we will miss. Enjoy it now before it comes to pass And Jean the hell with it tomorrow I will cut that grass.
